EMINEFO THE CONQUEROR

Eminefo was born about 1820.  He was the son of the great King Ekarabome. His father was Ekabome who was then the Otaro i.e. the ward head of Eni. His father Ekabome was an influential man but his influence seems to be eclipsed by that of Odeyon the powerful ward head of Oshobane.

Eminefo’s mother is a native of Okesi and her name was Okposolomo.   She had 3 important children each of whom was recognized as a ruler before their deaths.  They are by name Ahuna Udeji, Eminefobovie and Eyisinayo (female).

Eminefo is an Okpameri word. Okpameris are in Akoko-Edo Local GOvt in Edo State which has 42 communities like Ikiran, Bekuma, Ekpe & so on. Eminefo literally means "it does not finish" ie his parents named him "this  is forever and ever". Specifically as related to him it is interpreted as "Water never finishes in a Crab's hole". Just as the adage says "Sea never dries".

Indeed, Eminefo’s dynasty is inexhaustible.

Ekarabome's children are:

1. Eyisinayo
2. Udeji
 3. Eminefo
4. Asigiri and
5. Omopkija.

Daudu Eminefo grew to be a famous strong warlord and a conqueror. Although he would have been greatly favoured to be the leader of his people, he was too obsessed with conquest and creating vassals, leaving the internal administration to his trusted brothers, particularly Udeji. Udeji's children Aisoni and Fadipe succeeded him in quick succession. However, upon his return and subsequent sad demise, Eminefo's rightful turn of succession to the throne was given to his son Prince Aliyu. That began the Eminefo Dynasty.

From then on, Eminefo Dynasty and Udeji's/Aisoni Dynasty have continued to produce the succession of rulers (Ologori) for the Ogori community up till today, while a succession of women leaders (Iyodina) descend from their beloved sister Eyisinayo A full account of the history of the two great dynasties is contained in G.Bawa's (1970) History of Ogori.

EMINEFO the son of King Ekarabome was one of greatest men of valor in his own time. He was a courageous worrior who save Ogoriland from mauraders and plunderers and whose record and prowess have hardly been matched by anyone for this many generations. He rose to fame and became known as "Eminefo the Conqueror" thoughout the then known region. He was feared as he was respected so much so that over a century after his death, his name is still sung among people in many parts of the region, especially some Masquerades in Ebiraland.

Eminefo was a man of great nobility and first among equals. He fathered many great men and women who themselves have been wonderful achievers in their own rignts. One legacy that will continue to live with his descendants is a heart of unity and love for one another among his descendnats. The present website is a celebration of these virtues and more, which the great Eminefo and his great descendants have passed down to generations. Till the world ends, this love, unity and courage will continue to flourish among those in whom EMINEFO's blood flows.
